Tour Kick Off - Meet and Greet - The End of Athens by Anthony Karakai

Urban Fantasy
Date Published: 5/2/2013

In the year 2091, humans have lost the ability to dream. After decades of financial and social depression, dreams and aspirations have become a recessive gene—an impossibility of the modern mind.
Greece is one of the worst social and economic disaster zones, and all hope of a better future has been lost. One young man, Nikos, discovers that he is not like everybody else—there is something different about him.
Believing that he may be going crazy, he soon discovers that he is the only person in Greece who has inherited the ability to dream. Time is running out as the government continues its tirade of corruption and suppression against the people, and Nikos must find a way to teach others how to dream so that once more society can free itself from the shackles of mental slavery.

#1 – Do You See Writing as a Career?
Yes.

#2 – What was the Hardest Part of Your Writing Process?
The editing. It is bizarre that no matter how many times you read and scan a manuscript for errors, magically something else pops up. I see it in books all the time.

#3 – Did you have any One Person Who Helped You Out with Your Writing Outside of Your Family?
Yes, my agent John Campbell in New York City. He always supported my writing and gave me the confidence to continue. I can’t thank him enough.

#4 – What is next for your writing?
I will be working on a sequel to my dark spy thriller, The Black Lion. It is an action novel about an elite group of intelligence officers from the CIA, KGB, ASIO, M16 and the AISE (Italian Secret Service). Known collectively as The Black Lions, they fight international crime and terrorism. The first in the series was described by one reader as ‘James Bond, but darker and more sinister.’ I would like to involve my readers actively in my future work. For example, readers could vote for the next exotic location in The Black Lion, or a key issue they would be interested in seeing addressed.

#5 – Do you have an addiction to reading as well as writing?
If so, what are you currently reading? Most certainly. Even though I write everyday, I still manage to read at least four books per month. In the past two weeks, I’ve read The Great Gatsby, Manuscript Found in Accra, and The Beach. I am now reading The Tesseract, which is set in the Philippines.

DESCRIBE Your Book in 1 Tweet:
Psychological dream thriller The End of Athens- can Nikos lead the revolution and save Greece from despair?
